New Website Live: Elan Cosmetics Brand House

Some briefs are complicated because the business is complicated. Elan Cosmetics isn't complicated, but it is distinct, and that distinction needed communicating fast.

Elan isn't a beauty consultancy. It isn't a contract manufacturer that also does a bit of branding. It's a brand house: formulation, small-batch UK manufacture, packaging identity, and the e-commerce store it sells from, all under one roof, one brief, one ongoing relationship. That's a meaningfully different proposition from the usual patchwork of suppliers a beauty founder has to manage, and the website needed to say so before the visitor had time to wonder what they'd landed on.

Four weeks from brief to live. That was the target, and that's what we hit.

What Elan Cosmetics Actually Does

The clearest proof that the model works is that Elan runs three of its own brands through the same machine it offers to clients. One of them is Cult 51, a premium British anti-ageing label and the brand behind the Original Night Cream. When your own product lines are your case study, the offer stops being theoretical.

The core commercial proposition for external founders is equally concrete: 500 units minimum, made in Britain, four weeks from brief to product. That's the kind of specificity that separates a real offer from a mood board and a vague timeline.

The Brief: Six Seconds to Clarity

The creative brief had one dominant instruction: say all of that in the first six seconds. Big type, honest words, one clear route to starting a project. No lengthy explainer copy, no carousel of stock photography, no buried navigation.

Visitors to elancosmetics.co.uk tend to be founders. They're sitting on a beauty idea and they're exhausted by the prospect of stitching together a formulator, a manufacturer, a designer, and a Shopify developer just to get something on a shelf. The site needed to meet them at that frustration and offer the obvious alternative immediately.

Design Decisions That Serve the Offer

The visual approach follows from the brief rather than from any trend cycle. Large typographic statements carry the core message at the top of the page. The hierarchy is deliberate: understand what Elan is, understand what's included, understand how to start. The route to beginning a project is never more than one click away from wherever the visitor is on the page.

We kept the copy tight and the claims honest. Elan's owned brands give the site credibility that a testimonials carousel never quite achieves, so those brands feature prominently rather than being buried in a portfolio section most visitors won't reach.

Why the Brand House Model Is Worth Understanding

The beauty industry has no shortage of people who will sell a founder one piece of the puzzle. Formulators who don't touch packaging. Manufacturers who work from someone else's formula but won't help develop one. Branding studios with no production relationships. The result for most early-stage beauty founders is a coordination problem that eats time and money before a single unit exists.

Elan's model removes that coordination layer entirely. It's the kind of vertical integration that larger beauty conglomerates use as a structural advantage, made accessible at a scale that works for independent brands and new entrants. Four weeks and 500 units is genuinely a different category of offer from most of what's available in the British market.

The Result

The site is live at elancosmetics.co.uk. It loads quickly, reads clearly, and does the job it was designed to do: explain a nuanced business model to a specific audience before they click away.

If you're working on a project where the proposition is equally specific and the audience equally impatient, take a look at our recent work to see how we approach this kind of brief.
